The sniffing ritual.
Ten minutes of sniffing equals an hour of walking. That's the rule of thumb in canine enrichment — and the principle the Forage Mat is built around.
The Caelo Forage Mat is for the dry food. Kibble pressed deep into the fleece folds. Treats hidden in the layers. Dried liver, freeze-dried meat, anything that doesn't run off the surface. Your dog uses their nose to work it out, fold by fold, fifteen or twenty quiet minutes from a dog who normally finishes dinner in thirty seconds.
The mat sits flat on the floor. There is no suction base — by design, so the whole thing goes in the washing machine. Most dogs lie down with it anyway.
Considered through every detail
Deep-pile polar fleece in considered colours. 69 × 53 cm — big enough for a labrador, small enough to roll up. Machine washable on a normal cycle. Air-dry flat. No batteries, no plastic, no noise.
For the dry-food moments
- Slow-feeding dinner — kibble scattered through the folds, breakfast or dinner
- Rainy day enrichment — when the walk can't happen, the nose still works
- Crate calm — a loaded forage mat in the crate keeps a settled dog settled
- Between meals — a handful of training treats hidden in the folds, twenty quiet minutes
Pairs with The Caelo Mat
The Forage Mat is for the dry food. The Caelo Mat is for the wet — peanut butter, yoghurt, and wet food spread on food-grade silicone. One mat for sniffing. One for licking. Same brand of calm, two different rituals.
Take both in The Quiet Hours Bundle — £49.99 instead of £56.98.
How to use
- Lay the mat on a low-pile rug or hard floor.
- Hide kibble or treats deep in the folds.
- Hand it to your dog.
- Sit down with your coffee.
Lifespan
Polar fleece typically lasts 12 to 24 months of regular use and washing. Replace it once the fleece becomes badly matted or torn.
Supervision
Always supervise your dog with any feeding accessory. The Forage Mat is a foraging surface, not a chew toy.
